Every day people donate towards various causes for many different reasons. Of all the reasons, some simply believe ‘in the value of giving itself’. Our team at Art Center College of Design, conducted a set of experiments that would allow us to speculate new ways of gestural interactions, that flow within the everyday choreography of human life. This would allow people to donate with minimum effort while creating a meaningful experience.

Research Questions
– Can we gamify the task of donating?
– How can we incorporate a familiar gesture / activity into an interaction?

The Set Up

IMG_5358

The set up consisted of a jump pad, a role of red tape, a black booth, and one human operator. A person walks into the Art Center College of Design parking entrance and walks straight into the jump pad. The red tap gives the illusion that by simply jumping something will happen. When the person jumps a human operator sitting inside the black box dispenses a donation card that advices the donor of the cause.
