My love for dance and interest in gestural interaction got me a seat at the table when the A&D Museum, LA approached PUSH Offices to dedicate an installation to the Surf, Bike and Run culture in LA.
The Final piece was a screen connected to a Microsoft Kinect and instagram. We pulled instagram images that used hashtags #surf #bike #run to refresh on the screen in real time.
Where do gestures come in ?
Viewers stand in front of the screen to view pictures. The camera installed on top of the screen recognizes any body movement/gestures created by the viewer. Images that directly co-relate with the gesture get updated to new images.
As an Interaction Designer who has a passion for dancing, I really enjoyed being a part of this project. I was able to use my knowledge in Interaction design and combine it with my interest in gestural interactions. We were able to create an experience that went beyond clicks and commands. Its a conversation between the viewer and the screen.
